Budding market: Marijuana dispensary owners try to position for long-term success in surging medical marijuana market
There is no sure pathway to longevity; however, many owners agree that high-quality product in a safe, clean environment is part of the equation.
So is finding something that you can do well and set yourself apart.
“We already know, statistically, that nine out of 10 businesses are going to fail,” said Shawn Jenkins, FlowerCraft CEO. “You have to have something that you do better than anyone else.”
FlowerCraft, 2606 S. Sheridan Road, opened its dispensary on Valentine’s Day. The owners are envisioning its strip center location becoming a “Flower District” with a number of cannabis-related and cannabis-friendly businesses.
The first step in that direction is FlowerCraft’s 180-person event center a few doors down from its dispensary.
The event center is designed to serve the cannabis community by hosting events such as seminars, classes, meetings and celebrations.
“People who have been in this almost underground culture now have a platform to talk with each other,” Jenkins said. “Anything our community needs, we can host that here in a safe, professional environment.” Read more.
